HOPE Centre for Ethnic Minorities

  • Objectives

    As a support service centre for ethnic minorities, HOPE stands for Harnessing Opportunities and Potentials for Ethnic Minorities. It advocates the integration of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong society, creating a community with cultural diversity, racial harmony and equality.

  • Whom We Serve

    Hong Kong Residents who are ethnic minorities, coming from the countries including but not limited to Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka.

  • Service Contents
    1. Orientation to Familiarization Programmes
    2. Language Classes in Cantonese and English
    3. Computer Training and Multimedia Workshops
    4. Employment Support Services (training, seminars and job-referral service)
    5. Cross-cultural Activities
    6. Volunteer Programmes
    7. Counselling and Guidance, Referral and Sight Translation
    8. Interest Classes and Support Groups
    9. Family and Parent-child Programmes
    10. Elderly Support Services
    11. Health and Mental Wellness Programmes
    12. Sports and Water Sports Programmes
    13. Beyond Race

    For participants aged 6-24

    1. Free After School Tutorial Classes (Primary 1 to Primary 6; Secondary 1 – Secondary 6)
    2. Photography/ Multimedia Classes and Workshops
    3. Music Instrument Lessons
    4. Skills Based Activities
    5. Day Camps and Sports Day
    6. Uniformed Groups
    7. Youth Talent Show
    8. Community Services and Youth Volunteer Opportunities

    Care Team

    Objectives: 

    Care Team extends Hope Centre’s services to the community by proactively reaching out to and engaging the community in Wan Chai, Central and Western, Southern District.  The team provides support and care to the individuals and families through home visits and regular outreach.  The Care Team also provides support to assist in handling large-scale incidents and emergencies when affecting the ethnic minority community.  Introduction of public policy and community resources will also be shared and referred to the population.   

  • Service Fees

    Language and Computer classes will require for $100 fee per course; other classes and programs may require participants to pay refundable deposit at registration.

  • Service Hours

    Mon: 9am to 6:30pm
    Tue to Sun: 9am to 9pm
    Public Holidays: Closed
