Elderly Academy (EA) Scheme for Ethnic Minorities
Duties

International Social Service Hong Kong Branch is commissioned by the Labour and Welfare Bureau (LWB) to implement a financial literacy course for ethnic minority (EM) elderly participants under the Elderly Academy (EA) Scheme for Ethnic Minorities.

Scope of Services:

  • Conduct financial literacy courses/lessons, address participants’ questions or concerns during the course, and facilitate learning through interactive activities tailored for EM elderly participants.
  • Monitor participants’ learning progress by assessing their understanding and providing constructive feedback throughout the course.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning preferences and needs of EM elderly participants.
  • Effectively manage the classroom to maintain a positive learning environment and handle discipline as necessary.
  • Encourage peer-to-peer learning and sharing among participants to enhance engagement.
  • Regularly evaluate course effectiveness and implement improvements to ensure high-quality delivery.

Service Period: September 2026 to August 2027

Class Size and Duration: 10 to 20 participants per class; day or evening sessions available

Salary & Benefits

Service Fee: About HK$300 per hour (subject to qualification and experience)

Requirements
  • University degree or above, preferably in business, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications in financial planning, financial education, or financial social work (e.g. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Accredited Financial Counsellor (AFC), Certified Financial Wellness Social Worker/Practitioner) and/or frontline experience in banking, insurance, investment, or retirement sectors is preferred.
  • Proven experience in delivering financial literacy courses, preferably with elderly individuals; candidates with broader experience in financial education, wealth management, or training roles will also be considered.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of financial literacy topics, including new financial products and market trends.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a good understanding of EM communities in Hong Kong.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in any EM language is an advantage.
  • Retirees from related disciplines are also welcome to apply.
